Getting a good night's sleep before a test allows your brain to recharge, and helps it to retain all of the information you've been studying for. Does background music count as a "distraction" while studying? (jordan)
how do i avoid distractions? -thanh
Are these the best techniques for everyone? Hasn't it been proven that some people learn well when listening to music? -Cassidy & Tay
To answer the three questions above, everyone studies differently, therefore everyone should avoid different things. Some studies have made the case that listening to music before you study is more beneficial than listening to it while you actually study, but others say that some music can help you while you study (such as classical music, for instance). However, it is wise to avoid catchy tunes or your favorite music while you prepare for a final, as it may drag your attention away from the task at hand and towards the song. You can avoid these distractions by first informing your family that you are studying, turning off your phone (or at least turning the volume down), and going somewhere where these distractions won't be there to distract you (like maybe a library).
What if you have a sibling and they won't stop crying how would you study in this scenario? (Janelle B.)
Preferably in this case, you would try to find someone else to babysit or watch your sibling while you study (a friend, neighbor, etc.), and then get out of the house for a little bit to better focus.

what are other ways i can study to get good grades?-victoria
To address the two questions above, an finding an effective way of studying is completely on you. Try different things until something works. Many people have techniques completely unique to themselves, you just have to search around a little, experiment with new things. If you feel you aren't retaining any of the information or your feel studying is eating up way too much of your time, then move on to something else.

how many flashcards should i make for finals? -ashley
That depends on how many you feel you need, as well as what the subject is. It is advisable to typically have at least ten, but no more than 50. But again, it all depends on how much you have to put on flash cards, and what you're studying.
